THE Team

SHEKELLA HIGGINS
Shekella Higgins is a senior majoring in Health Education and Behavior. She serves as a research assistant for THE Workgroup Research team where she conducts systemic literature reviews, analyzes data, assist with data collection from surveys, and engages with contests posted on KITS various platforms. In the future, she would like to get her Bachelors and Doctorate in Nursing Practice in-order to purse a career in the Healthcare field as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.

BLADEN POTTER
Bladen Potter is currently a senior obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and is pursuing a minor in Health Disparities in Society. Bladen is a part of THE Workgroup, serving as Chair of the Systematic Literature Review Board. She also has plans to go on to Physician Assistant school and hopes to work with populations experiencing health disparities. In addition to health disparities and integrative health, Bladen is passionate about yoga, swimming, and her dog!

BRIANNA CINEUS
Brianna Cineus is a first-generation Haitian-American student from Miami, Fl. She is a senior at the University of Florida, majoring in Health Education and Behavior. Under the leadership and direction of Dr. Delores James, she assists with data collection and is the Chair of Survey Data Entry. She also aids in conducting systematic literature reviews on online health communities and support groups. In her spare time, Brianna enjoys a series of intellectually stimulating conversations, traveling, volunteering, and spending quality time with family and friends. She is passionate about representation in health care for marginalized populations that are both underrepresented and underserved. Brianna's future aspirations are to become a physician and to work alongside Doctors Without Borders or the Peace Corps.

NAYAH WALKER
Nayah Walker is a senior Health Education and Behavior major on the pre-med track from Miami, FL. Her role on the research team is to assist in developing health education content for African-American Women. This includes developing educational memes, infographics, short videos, and health awareness content to be distributed through our social media platforms. Within the realm of health education, her interests lie in topics such as minority health issues, mental illness, health disparities, and health promotion within low-income communities. Outside of her major, Nayah has a passion for service work and the field of medicine. Her ultimate goal is to attend medical school to become either a Pediatric Oncologist or a Neonatologist.

JENEL FACEY
Jenel is a senior majoring in Psychology on the Behavioral & Cognitive Neuroscience track with a minor in Health Disparities of Society. She currently oversees the website and the development of all training materials. Jenel is interested in alternative medicine, art, meditation, graphic design. In the future, she would like to earn a Masters's Degree in Genetic Counseling and pursue a career as a Neurogenetic Counselor.

One of the strengths of THE Workgroup is the cadre of undergraduate researchers registers for 0 - 3 credits. They are required to complete trainings in IRB, HIPPA, etc. They also gain valuable skills in:
